A great review of 'Dislocations' came in last month from Mick Mercer, the longest-running Goth and Post-Punk writer in the world. The one time Melody Maker writer and longtime post-punk/goth icon called the album, "A great record. A moody thing with fire in its belly and a melodic heart lacerated by intriguing barbs," and went on to
write about each song. Check out the full review on our Reviews & Press page.
Shows
We have a show tonight, August 7th at The Fire in Philly with good friends Red Orange Morning, Romance is Born and Antler. This our first show in months and we're really looking forward to it.

Reviews
Another review of 'Dislocations,' this one from Allmusic.com, where Ned Raggett compares the band's sound to that of The Sound and The Chameleons while also saying, "At its brightest and best, Dislocations captures a sense not of head-nodding reverence but sudden bursting energy." And he goes on to mention,
"moments throughout Dislocations that rank among the group's best, including the inspiring chorus of 'Let There Be No Hurt,' which starts the album, and the tight pep of 'The Magician,'" and more. Check out the full review here: The Silence Kit | Dislocations

Lineup Changes
After almost three years, guitar player TJ Wark is parting ways with The Silence Kit. It looks like musicially we'll be going in different directions. The Silence Kit will continiue as a four piece for now, with James covering guitar and keyboard duties. We wish TJ well on his future endevours, and hopefully we'll cross paths at future shows.
Reviews
More reviews are coming in for 'Dislocations,' and Jon at Leonard's Lair had this to say: "...hats off for 'Your Mistakes'; where they come closest to the downbeat elegance of Joy Division... 'Let There Be No Hurt' is infused by the murkiness of early Cure records but the band turn it into something far more intense. 'Five Seconds' is better still, with ringing guitars and driving rhythms pushing the song into the realms of excellence... 'Dislocations' balances thrills with funereal levels of despair," and he goes on to compare 'The Magician' to 60's British Beat groups and call this the band's best album yet. If you haven't heard "Dislocations" for yourself yet, you can listen on our music page.

Press
Check out what people are already saying about the new album. The Philadelphia City Paper is calling Dislocations, "the band’s boldest, most cohesive statement so far," and Philly Girl About Town declares it to be "the darker half to 2008's A Strange Labor," and goes on to say,
"we'll be damned if Dislocations isn't a fine listen when it comes down to the layering of guitar melodies (especially when heard on rad opener Let There Be No Hurt), and we love the light they brought in on the songwriting for The Magician."

Lineup
The Silence Kit is happy to announce that we've added our good friend James Cuartero to our lineup, on keyboards. He's been rehearsing with us the last few weeks and he played his first show with us at Arlene's Grocery. His contributions are already felt and we're excited about having him contribute to our new recordings.
Recording & Shows
We played the Northstar Bar in Philadelphia and Arlene's Grocery in June and both shows went really well. Thanks so much to everyone who came out. We have been recording for a while now and have 8 songs completely tracked. We are now taking some time off from shows in order to record a few more songs and finish up what will be our third album.
