i wanted to write something about this sooner but i’ve kind of been in denial about it. matt & kellee are moving to indiana today. he’s got a great job lined up and they’ll be close to kellee’s family for the first time in four years. it’s great but at the same time it’s awful.

over the past three years, matt made apple of discord about a hundred times better than it had any right to be. and more fun than it should have been as well. so many shows, rehearsals and recording sessions were made that much better with matt’s hilarious anecdotes and antics.

here’s a very quick matt story: one time we played with this super cheesy band where the bass player put ON a pair of horned rimmed glasses before they played and then took them off right afterwards! i guess he was going for that look. a few months later at a house show, matt put on his own (lensless) pair of horned rimmed glasses during a song while i wasn’t looking. when i turned around i totally rolled my eyes but was dying with laughter inside.

i always hate when bands say “we’re a family” or “we’re friends before we’re a band” but in this case it’s totally true. i’d rather have matt quit and hate this band yet still be around than have him and kellee move ten hours away. good luck, you guys, we’re missing you already.
