hey, we’re recording this weekend! as long as we come out of this weekend with good bass & drum tracks i’ll be thrilled. to complicate things, i’ve got a slight temperature and sore throat. i gave up my ticket to see headphones tonight with erich and hope i can get enough rest to keep this from getting any worse. ahhh, what should i worry about? me strong like bull *cough*! i’ve started a recording journal in the forum, we’ll see how that turns out.

engineer records (home to our friends elemae, who got pick of the week honors at DOA last week) is offering apple of discord a slot on an upcoming compilation set for late-summer release. i’m flattered; along with bands from the engineer roster, there’ll be bands from no idea, triple crown, immigrant sun, fidelity, limekiln and one day saviour on it. “my name is my passport” could be a good fit if we whittle it down and remix it. if we finish it in time, “magic lamp” may work out as well. given my druthers i’d rather send them something from the current lineup.

i was pretty adamant about not playing out ever again but it looks like we’re going to give it a shot. the new songs are coming together a lot better than we’d hoped and since we’re making a new record we might as well do a few shows, right? we’re staying as far away from the rock toilets of philadelphia as possible and concentrating on running our own shows in alternative spaces with bands we know and like. more soon.

speaking of the new record (working title you’re not the answer), we’re set to put down basic tracks in two weeks. with any luck we should be able to bang them out in a reasonable amount of time. i’d really like to get a bunch of guest musicians on this record. pedal steel, saxaphone, honky tonk piano - it’s going to be a lot of fun.

‘revenge and regret’ got absolutely wrecked in a review by georgiana cohen in splendid this week. matt read it to us at rehearsal last night and we rolled around on the floor clenching our stomachs. ‘inflamed by a hint of queensryche grandeur’? wow!
