we have a show tomorrow night at the chameleon in lancaster pennsylvania with our friends eyewisheye, then we’re taking a band field trip to hershey park on saturday. forget packing for a weekend, i’ve got my hershey park physics manual downloaded, so i couldn’t be any more prepared than that.

some really good shows tonight in philadelphia. the silence kit and sovenskya are at the pontiac and kitty kat dirt nap, dressy bessy and the oranges band at the khyber. rock out.

full circle records last night. the silence kit was great and we played pretty well. for some reason the sound in the room was really good and well balanced. my voice was starting to give out on me pretty early - that’s what happens when i don’t eat all day. i figured that we didn’t have a show until friday, so i pushed my throat anyway. the end result was probably the most gravelly and most raspy you’ll ever hear from me. two kids in ICP makeup showed up. one was wearing a spider-man spandex top. he looked like the amazing spider-mime.

most bands hang out, count their money or go out and get blasted after a show, apple of discord plays videogames and watches indie wrestling tapes. “caveman games” for NES is a riot and there’s nothing like seeing a guy with this foot pointed 180 degrees in the wrong direction after he breaks his ankle. next time we may even break out the ice cream and pie.

Friday, May 23rd, 2003

last night’s show at the fire went over pretty well. the sound was excellent, i just wish that my guitar hadn’t kept falling out of tune. and what’s with all the dogs walking around the bar? we counted no less than three, but it was hilarious. one was on a barstool, one was drinking heineken out of a bowl and another was passed out on the floor. it sounds like nolan’s last party. we hope you had a good time and thanks so much for coming out. we have an all-ages show tomorrow night at full circle records in blackwood nj with our good friends the silence kit. show starts at 7:00 sharp.

Sunday, May 18th, 2003

last night’s show at the 1619 house was great. all the other bands were really cool and unbelievable musicians. missing pilots were amazing and sometime in april rocked like a hurricane. i dreamed of pompeii was typically fantastic. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a kid hit a drum as hard as tank does. us, alan and the sometime in april guys got to watch some 1989-era NWA wrestling that alan had on tape before the show started. the dynamic dudes vs. the skyscrapers? ricky steamboat vs. lex luger? that was at least as good as the show itself.

we picked up another all-ages show in new jersey for this saturday at full circle records in blackwood nj with our friends the silence kit. it’s free, so if you don’t come out there has to be something wrong with you.

Tuesday, May 13th, 2003

the elocine show last thursday was great and the whole night, which included the chris schultz explosion, david gray & the slow wire, was really well-booked. it’s so much fun to go to philadelphia shows and actually want to stay the whole time.

practice last night was exhausting to say the least. this is what happens when we don’t play rock music for a few weeks - we end up red-faced and barely standing by the end of the night. i swear to god we’re the most woefully out of shape band out there. i’m getting tired just thinking about it.

for you guys that bug me about playing too many 21+ shows, stop your crying: we have a show at alAn’s on friday night with i dreamed of pompeii among others. it should rock, provided we can stay awake during our set. it’s also tank from idop’s birthday, so bring some cake.

Wednesday, May 7th, 2003

last night’s jazz odyssey set came off pretty well (at least soundwise) and the guy that was hassling us afterwards ended up getting arrested. those were pretty much the highlights of the evening. my microphone smelled so disgusting that i thought i was going to throw up. anyway, we have a great all-ages show at the 1619 house in williamstown nj next friday night so you should come check it out.

thursday night, nelson plays an elocine solo set at malokai’s with our friends the slow wire, among others. it should be great. hope to see you there.

Sunday, May 4th, 2003

x-men 2 rocked, yo. jeff fields just informed me that ‘the reward of my life is an angel spitting on my soul’ from the ‘you were right’ lp is currently ranked #25 on garageband.com’s rock charts. that’s pretty funny considering that song’s been up for such an insane amount of time. i wonder if it’s not a computer glitch. there’s a couple of songs posted there from that album that are otherwise undownloadable, so check it out anyway if you get a chance.

tuesday night the apple of discord jazz odyssey plays a very cool, mellowed-out show at the khyber with john quinlan and new brunswick’s american altitude. we’re very much looking forward to it and you should be too. there’s also been a couple of new shows added, including an all-ages show at the 1619 house on friday the 16th with i dreamed of pompeii, missing pilots and sometime in april. let’s see how many times the kids can flip alan’s truck over this time.
