for god's sake come to this

our new record is out now and you can buy it from engineer records, stickfigure distro, interpunk, revHQ , amazon and many more. get a copy today!

and to start things off, we got a nice review from skylinepress.net:

Indie is a genre I find myself bored with at an exponential rate as I check out more and more bands that make themselves at home with this style. I’d be making a horrendous understatement by saying I’m a little bit biased to catchy hooks and simple melodies. In “You’re Not the Answer” Apple of Discord combine the best of both worlds to make an obsessively catchy album mixed with the creativity derived from a full-fledged indie powerhouse…

i’ve often imagined myself as an “indie powerhouse” when i look in the mirror and comb my hair with my hand. you can read the rest of drew’s review here.

It’s taken a little while but we have a release date for the record. Our new full-length, You’re Not The Answer, co-released by Engineer Records & Azteca Records, will be available February 27. We’re very excited to finally have this out! To celebrate, we’re having our record release show with our friends Bamboo Shoots, The Prestige & SheKeepsBees at the North Star Bar on Saturday, March 10. Save the date!

The record is finally mixed and mastered! I don’t believe it either. Thanks to our erstwhile guitarist / engineer Matt Milner at Single Spark Audio and Dave Downham at Gradwell House Recording for all their hard work in getting the tracks together.

The Mass Broadcast Vol. 2 comp is out. Besides us, there are a lot of great bands are on it, including our friends in The Silence Kit, The Old Souls, Adding Machine, MAKE, It’s A King Thing, The Progress and more. We’ll probably be giving ours out at shows (wait, are we playing shows?) or free with mail orders. For more info, check out massbroadcast.com.

You may remember our song “Nothing Ever Stays Buried” from 2004’s “Revenge & Regret” EP. Our friends Leah & Travis recorded a cover of it as a birthday present for me and they totally reconstructed what was a late-90s SDRE ripoff into a folktastic, timeless song. I never thought this song would work in an acoustic setting; I guess you just have to know what you’re doing. You can check it out on our myspace, along with two unmastered preview tracks from the new record.

Our friend Mike Mamaril has been playing guitar with us the past few weeks and things are sounding good so far. If he can keep from locking his keys in his house like he did this week, we’ll really start to get our act together.
